Bringing Holiday Cheer and Help to Erie City Mission

Residents Richard Muscaro, Nancy Sando and Norman Grode, seated left to right, helped make the mood festive.

Residents and Sodexo and Springhill staff members wrapped up our Season of Caring community service event by serving over 500 meals to disadvantaged folks at the Erie City Mission on December 21.

It’s a sad fact that many children need Erie City Mission’s services, but residents Norman Grode, Nancy Sando and Richard Muscaro provided lots of ho, ho, hos as Santa and Mrs. Claus and Santa’s helper. It was a delight to see the smiles they brought forth.

A festive air filled the kitchen and dining hall as everyone pitched in to prepare and serve the food and serenade diners with Christmas carols. We were so happy to be able to distribute over 700 blankets, toiletries, items of clothing and other badly-needed necessities that were donated over the past few weeks by Springhill staff and residents. And everyone loved our bags of holiday cookies, which residents decorated on December 19 in the Community Room.

We are so thankful for our many blessings and to have been able to help, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Erie City Mission in the coming year.
